As incubators for the next generation of science leaders, research universities can - and should - lean into their leadership development role. But what does this look like in practice? This UERU Town Hall will feature Dr. Shawn Bediako, science leadership advocate and former professor at the University of Cincinnati and UMBC. Dr. Bediako will reflect on how his unique career pathway in the academy, the federal sector, and science philanthropy informs his approach to science leadership. Dr. Bediako will share what he's learned about inclusive leadership across the academic career spectrum, and how we might work to remove disciplinary and cultural barriers to transformative leadership in the STEM education ecosystem. Group discussion will focus on how UVPs and other research university leaders can help support the next generation of talent and broaden the pipeline into leadership roles.
