Title: "Equity/Excellence at Urban-Serving Universities: President/Chancellor Perspectives"
Abstract: By virtue of their mission, long-cultivated expertise, and in-depth experience, Urban-Serving Universities (USUs) are specially positioned to meet what the Boyer 2030 Commission called “the equity/excellence imperative” for 21st century undergraduate education. This webinar features the presidents of three leading Urban-Serving Universities whose commitment to undergraduate education is grounded in experience leading UG student learning and success initiatives. The webinar affords them opportunity to share their respective visions for how USUs, including their own, can lead in this area. Special focus areas include the faculty role (per Boyer’s Scholarship Reconsidered) and USU’s role as “anchor institutions.”
