Join us for an insightful one-hour virtual town hall as we explore with the authors the findings from their new report, The Multi-Engagement Model: Understanding Diverse Pathways to Student Success at Research Universities. Utilizing eleven years of survey data generated by the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) Consortium, this study provides a unique holistic analysis of the undergraduate student experience at large research-intensive public universities in the United States. At a time in which American universities are facing political pressure and criticism on their value for money, this longitudinal study shows that students at major public research universities are highly engaged and choose different pathways to prepare for productive lives once they graduate. But it also finds that student engagement across key areas of research university experience – academics, research, extracurriculars, civic engagement, and career preparation – declined during the pandemic and has yet to fully recover.
